Are You Wasting Your Time In The Gym?

Do you ever spend 20 minutes in the gym and then think now what???

Do you ever jump off the treadmill and then spend some time on the dumbbells before jumping straight back on the treadmill??

Or do you ever find yourself going through the same motion over and over again without knowing if what you’re doing is actually benefiting you.

The gym has all the tools you need to reach your training goal but without direction and structure, you are wasting your time. This is one of the reasons people pull out a gym membership but stop going after two months whilst still having to pay their membership fee.

If you have decided to join the gym, try engross yourself into the training culture and understand why so many people become obsessed and prioritise their gym time. It is a place where people escape their problems and channel their thoughts, a place where people are at peace, a bit like meditation which is something I have recently discovered and have been getting into the routine of doing. I can already see the benefits of doing both! 

We will leave meditation for another day but let’s get back to the point.

It’s unfortunate that people find bodybuilding and strength based gyms an intimidating place as that’s where you can pick up some of the best knowledge and direction on where to begin. Firstly, you need a plan or idea of what you’re going to do each day of the week and not get caught in the habit of doing the same thing because you will get bored or even worse, pick up an overuse injury.

Here’s a few things to think about depending on your goal:

Weight loss

How many days a week will you have to do cardio in relation to resistance training, this depends on how structured your diet is and how active you are outside the gym.

Strength training

What is your starting point? Have you done any form of testing to see how strong you are and have you set targets on how strong you want to get?

Muscle building

Have you got a good foundation of strength to start a muscle building plan or do you need to consider starting a strength plan first?

For you to see the results you want from the gym, you need to develop passion & drive. To develop that you will need a plan which will show you the value in what you are doing and will keep you on track. You need to be excited to see what the next plan has in store once you progress from the one you are on. In our experience that’s the type of clients that receive the best results.

4 Session Assessment + 12 Week Plan

Following this, we will design a program that specifies where your training journey should begin based on the results of the assessment and what your goal is.

At the end of the 4 session assessment, you will receive a 12 week plan that we will guide you through giving you the correct start into your training journey. The 12 week plan is also yours to keep.
